 Alumni Obituary – Earlene (Byers) Everhart

Susan Earlene Everhart (CC’63), 79, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Angel Arms, McPherson.  Earlene was born on March 18, 1943, in Emporia, KS, the daughter of Earle Conrad and Ethel Mae (Bess) Byers.

Earlene graduated from Central Academy and Central College before attending Kansas State University.  On February 7, 1965, Earlene was united in marriage to Denis J. Everhart in Ottawa, KS.

She was a member of McPherson Free Methodist Church.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Denis; a son, James Everhart (Terri) of McPherson, KS; three grandchildren, Clayton, Joshua, and Megan Everhart; sisters-in-law, Deana Larson (Richard) of McPherson, KS and Donna Huddle (Gail) of McPherson, KS; several cousins, Bob Nelson, Linda (Hibbett) Burnett, Danny Hibbett, and Mike Hibbett; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Rev. Charles and Susie Bess; aunts, Ruth Nelson (Carol) and Dorothy Hibbett; and cousin, Dr. David Nelson.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at McPherson Free Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Griffith officiating.  The burial followed at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to McPherson Free Methodist Church in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
