Bulldogs Tripped Up by Kansas Wesleyan at Home

The No. 17-ranked Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes took down the McPherson College Bulldogs 86-72 inside the Sports Center.

Things seemed to go the Coyotes' way from the beginning, scoring eight of the game's first ten points. From there, they ballooned their lead to 24-10 midway through the opening half.

The Bulldogs showed signs of life following back-to-back jumpers by Haven Ousley and Curtis Rose. Christian Aguillard joined the party with a triple to trim the lead to 24-17.

The Coyotes regained their double-digit advantage late in the first frame before taking a 46-36 lead into the break.

Jerome Mabry opened the second half with a jumper, then Yaniel Vidal drilled a trey to help the Bulldogs come within six, but from there the Coyotes grabbed the momentum and never looked back.

Jamil Hardaway paced the Bulldogs (10-8, 5-7 KCAC) with 16 points, while Mabry and Owen Braxmeyer added 12 points apiece. Aguillard finished with a team-high four assists.

Alex Littlejohn led the Coyotes with 17 points on 8-of-12 shootings and pulled down 14 rebounds. Jun Murdock added 14 points and six assists.

The Bulldogs are back in the Sports Center on Wednesday (Jan. 18) to take on Avila University. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
