Input sought on Wall Park playground upgrade
Thanks to a pair of generous donations, the City of McPherson Public Lands & Facilities Department is moving forward with plans to replace playground equipment in Wall Park.
Larry and Pat Bruce of McPherson along with an anonymous donor combined to pay a large portion of the funds needed to purchase the equipment now and get the project started.
The former playground in Wall Park had to be removed in 2019 due to safety concerns. With the donations and the community’s vote to continue a half-cent sales tax in August, the funds are secured to replace the facility.
Public Lands Director Wayne Burns made the announcement at the regular McPherson City Commission meeting last week.
In addition, the Park Department will be asking for the public’s input and will work with the donors on which type of playground should go in. Staff collected seven design concepts from various vendors and will put them on display for those interested to come in and mark their choice.
The City from 4:45 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, will host a public input evening at the McPherson Community Building, where citizens can vote for their favorites and see samples up close. There also is an online ranking of all seven systems where citizens can rank the list.
