POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the City Administrator, the Pool Manager is a seasonal position according to FLSA. Responsibilities include the direction and supervision of all swimming pool operations and programming during the summer months within the Marquette Swimming Pool. This employee supervises seasonal employees during the pool season. Leadership abilities and skills, as well the ability to work well with staff and organize numerous duties at once is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Supervises and organizes daily lifeguarding staff and schedules;
• Provides lifeguard annual training and bi-weekly safety and continuing education;
• Oversees annual swimming lesson curriculum and staff;
• Oversee and maintain correct reporting and documenting for pool financials;
• Maintain and supervisor time cards;
• Maintain a clean facility and positives public relations;
• Helps enforce City of Marquette Swimming Pool rules;
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
• Performs minor maintenance to swimming pool areas as needed;
• Helps coordinate repairs of swimming pool, equipment and facilities;
• Helps maintain inventory for concession stand and facility needs.
• Other duties as deemed necessary or assigned
POOL MANAGER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience is required. Employee is expected to have acquired necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within one year of employment.
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
Technical Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills.
Problem Solving: Problems the employee might deal with include working with young or inexperienced seasonal employees who lack proper motivation. Additionally, assisting youth, parents and adults during activities.
Decision Making: Frequent decision making occurs with this position.
Accountability: Employee is responsible for departmental equipment and relays requests for equipment, repairs and personnel to the City Administrator.
Supervision: This position is supervised by the City Administrator. Supervisory responsibilities exist over seasonal employees.
Personal Relations: Daily contact with co-workers, supervisory personnel and the general public is required. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
Working Conditions: Some adverse working conditions exist. Employee will spend approximately 80% of work time outdoors. Exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur. All types of weather conditions may be encountered, as well as work involving excessive noise and heights.
Physical Requirements: Employee must also be able to read rule books, diagrams and manuals. Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
