On March 4th, 2023, Central students competed and placed at the 72nd Annual Kansas Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference. Leaving early in the morning and returning late that same day, the student leaders were able to compete and perform admirably. Butler Community College, Emporia State University, Labette Community College, Pittsburg State University, and the University of Saint Mary were also in attendance to take part in the competitions.
Students who attended had the opportunity to not only compete but to also take advantage of workshops, networking opportunities, stand for professional headshots, and engage with industry professionals. Central students competed in a variety of events ranging from Social Media Marketing to Community Service Project, Impromptu Speaking to Cyber Security. As the process continues, a group of these leaders that will be invited to compete at nationals
Chapter adviser, Dr. Enrique N. Barreiro said,
“It was a great pleasure to share with our student leaders in this setting. This was the first experience for many in which we saw great qualities. This was also one of the youngest teams we have taken to the conference. The feeling of professionalism, pride, and enjoyment was very visible in their actions. I am very happy with their behavior and the spirit of competition. We are looking forward to building this group and adding more members in the near future.”
